Dear Theo and Koji,
Hope you are both well and that the strandbeests projects in Asia have been going well!
As the animaris are now on their way to Ecuador I’m writing to tell you both how happy we are with the success of this project here in Chile. It has really been a wonderful experience for all of us and the way the strandbeests were received here in Chile has been amazing. We have just this week received the final data of visitors and exhibition participation.
The exhibition received a total amount of 47,360 visitors, an incredible number for the context of Chile considering this is also a new space and not centrally located in the city. Throughout the two and half month period of exhibition the Cerrillos center conducted 318 guided visits for 10,938 coming from different schools, universities and institutions from all over Santiago.
With our collaborators, the Fablab University of Católica and Fablab University of Chile, we were able to offer 34 different workshops on programming, robotics, biomimesis, among other themes which received a participation of 425 people. We also received 6 different teachers from the north and south of Chile who came to the exhibition and will now create workshops for their communities over the coming semester as well as with Ecoscience Foundation (those who were with us and took us to Valle Nevado) who will be creating workshops in different regions of Chile as well.
We are also working with Victor now focusing on getting the short educational videos done as well as the documentary! The images are spectacular, as soon as we receive a preview version we will be sending you the link, but Animaris Ordis in Valle Nevado looks incredible. And with Juan Pablo we are working now on possible screening locations, aiming to premier the documentary in november. So exciting things coming ahead.
It has been an honor working with you Theo and Koji as well as with Zach and Uros, and its been beautiful to see the replicating and inspiring effect your work has on everyone, I speak on behalf of everyone that the time and work shared here has been a wonderful experience.
I am sending attached many images of your stay here in Chile and next week Maya and Amparo will send a very nice documentation made by a Chilean photographer called Sebatián Mejía of the exhibition in Cerrillos for you all to have.
All the best and we will be in touch soon with video updates,
Big hug from Chile,
Madeline,
